Friday review: Edgewood 21-7 on YouTube. Appleton North 14-0. Thursday was Bay Port and the other bird.
Last week’s Friday. PrepMania in the rain. Lightning shut out the Ghosts. Thursday’s two: Bay Port 44-7, West De Pere 42-0. This week’s free stream is Friday — Verona at Middleton, 6:30, ESPN Wisconsin YouTube.
WISCONSIN — Friday did what Friday does, and the desk is writing it down before the next one starts.
Edgewood 21, Sauk Prairie 7. The one on YouTube was Friday, not Thursday. Zimbrick Honda’s PrepMania on ESPN Madison. Jesse Nelson and Dennis Semrau. Kick moved to 6 because of the rain. Both clubs walked in 3-1. Last October the Eagles took this building 20-7. Friday was the other way.
An interception on the opening drive. Hunter Milota punched it in. Jack Lovell hit Cash Soma. Fourteen-nothing before Sauk Prairie found the end zone. Jude Thompson ran one in late in the half — the Eagles’ only points. Edgewood held from there. Crusaders 4-1. Eagles 3-2. The stream was free. The box was not. The replay is still on the Watch page.
The desk’s other Friday did not stay a game either. Appleton North 14, Kaukauna 0, from Paul Engen Field. FOX 11’s Game of the Week in the rain. The only two clubs still 2-0 in the Fox Valley Association. Scoreless first. Then Brock Struensee 17 yards and Owen Rein to Gabe Meitner 31 yards, both in the second, and nobody scored after that. Muhammad Jobe, the FVA’s second-leading rusher, went 18 for 25. North held Kaukauna to 132 yards. Lightning 4-1, alone in first. Ghosts 3-2.
The undercard was a real Friday, not a leftover. Oconomowoc 19, Muskego 16 — the upset. Cooney 0-16-0-3, Warriors 6-3-7-0, both 4-1. Arrowhead 47, Kettle Moraine 0. Marquette 35, Catholic Memorial 14 at Schneider Stadium. Homestead 48, Cedarburg 7. Hamilton 35, Brookfield Central 28. Menasha 48, Green Bay West 8 in the Banta Bowl. Bradley Tech 26, Reagan 16.
Thursday was not a leftover either. It was a statement, twice, and it did not have a YouTube game.
Bay Port 44, De Pere 7. FOX 11’s No. 1. MaxPreps had the box: De Pere 0-0-0-7, Bay Port 13-10-7-14. Running clock in four of five. Pirates 5-0. If you only watched one Thursday, that was the one.
West De Pere 42, Appleton West 0. The other bird. Phantoms 5-0, keeping pace with Bay Port. Terrors 3-2 after two straight Fox River punches — 40-14 to De Pere the Friday before, 42-0 on Thursday.
Notre Dame 70, Green Bay East 0. Memorial 49, Madison East 6. Pulaski 35, Ashwaubenon 0. Preble 42, Southwest 14. Oshkosh North 21, Sheboygan North 17.
This week’s problem is not Thursday. The Fox Valley slate is Friday. The Big Eight slate is Friday. ESPN Madison’s What’s On Tap graphic is Friday: 9/25, PrepMania, 6:30, Verona at Middleton, YouTube and the ESPN Wisconsin app. Last week’s broadcast even spoilered it — “the best rivalry in the area, renewed again next week.” They have not posted a video ID. The Watch page is holding the live tab. When they go up, it plays there.
The other desk game is Arrowhead (5-0) at Oconomowoc (4-1). Classic 8. Homecoming at Rux Stadium. Cooney just took 19-16 at Muskego. On3 has Arrowhead No. 1 and Oconomowoc No. 9. If you only open one tab that isn’t YouTube, open that one.
Bay Port walks into Appleton West. Appleton North goes to Neenah. The board is the scores. ScoreStream is on last week and this week. The stream is Friday.
