Memorial 44-27. Homestead 49-7. Thursday did what Thursday does.

Craig led 14-0 on YouTube, then Aparicio and a Feinstein pick-six flipped Mansfield. In Mequon the Highlanders had it 28-0 after a quarter. Friday is Catholic Memorial at Muskego.

MADISON — The one on YouTube started the way a Cougar night is supposed to start, and ended the way a Spartan night is supposed to end.

Memorial 44, Craig 27. ScoreStream had it from Mansfield Stadium. Craig was up 14-0 after one. Jayvon Davis was cooking — 25 of 35, 430 yards, four touchdowns. Malachi Schoonover went for 10 catches, 233 yards, three scores. Keyon’Dre Thornton added nine for 194 and one. That is 427 yards through the air between two receivers. That is also four interceptions and minus-33 on the ground, and that is the game.

Sam Aparicio ran it back. One hundred eighty-five yards, five rushing touchdowns, 7-of-9 for 125 through the air. A long ball to Paul Rafferty got Memorial on the board. Three more Aparicio scores in the third made it 31-21 before Carson Feinstein’s pick-six became the dagger. The Spartans ran for 329. The Cougars ran for nothing. Memorial is 3-1. Craig is 2-2. The stream was free. The box was not.

The desk’s other Thursday was over before the YouTube game found a second act. Homestead 49, Waukesha West 7, from Mequon. ScoreStream had the Highlanders up 28-0 after one, 35-7 at the half, 49-7 after three, and nobody scored in the fourth. Homestead came in 3-0 as a run club — 885 yards on the ground, 82 through the air through three weeks — and a Classic 8 visitor that had just lost 23-21 to Slinger did not slow that down. The Highlanders are 4-0. West is 1-3. Eighth on the statewide 25 still looks light.

The undercard was a real Thursday, not a graveyard. Verona 49, La Follette 14. Kimberly 37, Appleton East 14. Whitefish Bay 22, Menomonee Falls 18 — the Phoenix drop to 3-1. Appleton North 14, Fond du Lac 13. Sun Prairie East 28, DeForest 13. Middleton 77, Madison East 0. Parker 64, Madison West 20. Brillion 41, New Holstein 7.

Friday is the avalanche, and the desk is not watching eight games equally. Two are the night.

Game one: Catholic Memorial (2-1) at Muskego (3-0). The Crusaders already had their ranked-on-ranked Thursday last week — Arrowhead 34-14 at Schneider Stadium — and now they go on the road to the Warriors. If you only watch one Friday, watch this.

Game two: Appleton West at De Pere. The Redbirds are 3-0 and at home. West is 1-2 and walking into a Fox River Classic that does not give out free first downs.

PrepMania has not posted Friday’s YouTube game yet. The slot is on the Watch page — ESPN Madison live, same channel that carried Craig at Memorial. When they go up, it plays there. Until then, last night’s stream is the replay.
